Was Sick

and still is. Not me though, but my precious Thea.

She has been running a fever for the last two days and I can’t help but panic as this is the first time she ever had temperature reaching 39++. Even when she got cold, or was teething, or just had a jab- she's never had a temperature more than 38 degrees. So this is a first for all of us.

I barely slept the night before as I watch her twitch coz of the high fever. I myself feel helpless coz I cannot do much for her except for the occasional dab of cold water, round the clock watch, and administering the meds. It came to a point that I even had to wake my mom up for fear of convulsion when her temp reached 39.7. Its bad enough that I can’t do anything to ease her pain, but not knowing what to do is just so frustrating. It’s the worst feeling ever. (And fever pa lang yan ha)

Well, by God’s grace the fever has gone down slight a bit, and she’s as active as ever again today. I also thank God kasi although she’s sick, her appetite was normal and she didn’t have trouble taking her medicines. I spoke to the doctor this afternoon and her urine sample shows that her fever is caused by an infection on her urinary tract. We'll get a thorough explanation though, once the culture test result is released by the laboratory in two days. She said there’s really no need to worry about it as it commonly happens to children . I couldn't accept it at first because we have been very careful with nappy change, washing after poop, water feeding, food and fruits- but she explained that bacterias are everywhere and almost all children gets infected at one point.
The doctor prescribed an antibiotic which she needs to take for 10 days, and on top of this- as long as there's high temperature she has to continue taking the paracetamol.

This incident made me realize a couple of things:
First no matter how careful we are with our babies, they’re still susceptible to viruses and infections.
Also, its very important for mothers to have presence of mind and the knowledge of course, on first aid and medical stuff.
Finally, although my daughter is healthy, she’s still a normal child who is vulnerable to ailments and diseased and mommy has to be equipped to get her through it.

Thank God for moms (Like mine) who is just a call away, well for my case next room away; whose expertise in childcare is always readily available at anytime.

17 Again

Whatcha think?

Saw this muvee last night during my movie marathon date with Darly, and i must tell it’s the first time that I felt kilig over Zac Efron. Well, I did not really fancy him in the High School Musical trilogy and I even questioned (in my head of course) how come everyone is so crazy about him when he’s not even half as gorgeous as my Edward. Late bloomer as you may call, now I can’t get enough of his pretty face, cute smiles, dance moves, hairstyle, fashion sense, and Vanessa Hudgins. Sigh!

Anyways, as I was watching the film, it got me thinking if ever there’s a chance for me to go back in the past (say Highschool maybe) and do it all over again, there is nothing in it that I wanted changed. I am who I am now, because of those choices (right or wrong) I made. And had it been otherwise, my life will not be as perfect as it is.

However, if ever im given a chance, id still grab it so I could do these things that I missed doing in Highschool:
1. join the school organ- I really wanted to join then, but becoz my barkadas won’t join with me, I missed the chance.

2. be more assertive- Im a little bit of a pushover back in Highschool, so id like to change that

3. learn piano- I got a scholarship before from Yamaha but wasn’t able to use it because Makati is too far from where I lived, had I known ill regret it- I would have been patient with the travel

4. join the volleyball team- swimming is really the sport where I excel, but volleyball is something that interests me, although, im no good at it

5. date more- except for my darly, I haven’t really had a real date back in highschool. It would have been fun i think, experience-wise.

6. involve myself in the Music Ministry- Although I was part of the KKB music ministry then, it would have been great if I pushed myself to full potential as a worship leader. I know its all part of the body of Christ, but I believe its one of the important ministries in church, wherein you assist everyone prepare for the coming of the King during the church service.

7. Be friends with the School’s A Group- Yep the great RMHS has got that, id like to be acquainted with them, not for popularity’s sake (I had my fair share of popularity too) but becoz I find them very interesting people.

8. Be bestfriends with a sexually challenged boy (can’t name him)- not that I tolerate it, but I believe I would have learned a lot from him. I find them very talented, artistic and witty- and I want some of those traits rubbed off on me.

9. wear the latest fashion of today on our JS Prom- it would have been a blast if i did

10. Show my singing skills to everyone- i was too shy then, but if given a chance again- id definitely hit the microphone.

So tell me, what’s yours if your 17 Again?

1. If you could turn back the hands of time to correct one wrongdoing, what event would you choose and why?
I would have been careful with what I said, no matter how angry I was, to avoid straining my relationship with my brother.

2. Are you one for tradition? If so, what traditions do you strongly believe in? If not, what makes tradition hypocritical?
Yes, I like things that reminds me of my roots, but if it is something that derails progress then im not for it. (I prefer not to be specific as I don’t want to be misunderstood)

3. You were taking part in an event and you had to crossplay, who would you crossplay as and why?
Definitely Queen Elizabeth I. A lot of important events in history happened during her time, and I would like to witness it from her point of view. Also, she’s my epitomy of woman empowerment.

4. If you only had one day left to live, how would you spend your last day? Would you be tempted to live fatally if you knew you were to die the next day, and if so, what extreme measures would you take?
Cliché it may sound, id rather spend it with people I love the most- my Darly and Thea.

5. What are your top five sinful materialistic items, ones you'd expect from others including those closest to you? Why are each in the position they are in?
iphone, charm bracelets, shoes and bags, coffee and chocolate; and perfumes. Just because.

6. I am first and foremost, a mother

7. I feel on top of the world right now

8. I see goodness in each person no matter how misunderstood they are

9. I need to be pampered from time to time

10. I love the way my Darly loves me

mommy moments

I also call this week's theme "The many faces of me daughter".

According to the freedictionary.com , pouting is to exhibit disappointment or to protude the lips to show discontent. In other words, sulkiness.

However, Id like to think that in the case of my Thea, pouting lips is to display her adorable expressions of pleasure, fun, and most of all, cuteness.

Check it out:

"The Birthday Pout"
taken during her 1st bday party celebration here in Dubai, she's starting to get bored coz the guests hasn't arrived yet.

"The Pa-Cute Pout"
yep, i know its not a real pout but she looks so cute here that i want to share with you mommies. Besides, there's a little bit of protruding lips naman eh.

"The Bagong Gising Pout"
like mommy, sometimes it takes her a bit of time to warm up after waking.

"The Party Girl Pout"
Because she can't join the games....yet!

"The Mukhasim Pout"
Just goofing around in front of Daddy's camera.

And finally.....................

"The Ultimate Pout"
Adorable isn't it?

Come and join our fun as we share our mommy moments every week with fellow mommy bloggers.

Next week uli!!

which are both charming and worrisome.

Well, aside of course from the usual milestone developments for toddlers her age, here are some of her famous tricks this days:

1. Knows to point at her nose, ears, eyes and lips when asked

2. Can pronounce the word stars (sounds like “tars”) while singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars” (charming ayt?)

3. Climb up and down the stairs (our house is a two storey villa, so its very difficult to lure her away from it.)

4. Flashes her beautiful eyes with matching pouted lips

5. Says “hi” and “bye” appropriately

6. Starting to hold and use her spoon during meals

7. Prefers to sip liquids from the drinking glass instead of the sippy cup

8. scribbles on paper, floor, walls whenever she gets hold of a pen or pencil (nanny is such a spoiler eh)

9. Shhhsssh at Johnson the cat (her playmate) whenever the latter is noisy meowing

10. gets her shoes from the closet when she’s aware we’re going out (uber lakwatsera) and can pronounce shoes as well (sounds like “sus”)

11. point at and says car whenever she sees one

12. open doors by reaching for the door knob

13. Displays her dramatic prowess each time Barney sings the Barney Song (kasi episode is over na)

14. loves to dance to any music, but her favorite is “Dance, Boogie Wonderland” (dunno the title)

15. picks up her toys and keeps it in the basket, when we ask her to or imitate us when she sees us tidying up the mess she made

And lastly, my most favorite

16. Hugsies from her whenever the part in Barney’s Song (with a great big hug, and a kiss from me to you) is sang, and her random kisses to any part of my body she could reach (well, usually my knees when im sitting down)

These are also my 16 reasons why i always come home rushing from the office, the things that makes me tick and impatient for the day to be over, and my stress reliever after a day of hard work.

Lunch Date

Whatcha think?

with Darly is something I look forward to every week.

Since we became parents, we hardly ever spend time together on our own- like a couple alone. So these lunch dates are our way of catching up on lost times (ika nga!). We get to exchange kulitans uli like we used to or just hold hands while we munch on our meals. It doesn't matter whether its lunch at the foodcourt, or at a casual diner, or even go for a cup of coffee- so long as its something we like doing together that we can pull of in a span of one hour.

Today we spent the lunch hour at Johnny Carino's Resto in Deira, near our office building. Darly picked me up 10 minutes before time and we drove to the place which is just a stone's throw away from our building. Its too hot to be walking outside, specially at noon- so its better to drive yourself there than toast under the scorching heat.

Anyways, we had the Combo Platter for starters, and Darly had the Cedar Planked Salmon while I chose the Spicy Chicken and Shrimp Pasta, yum yum. Pictures below are not good quality coz its just taken from my iphone:

By the time we finish that hearty meal, i didn't feel like going back to work and hoped to just take the whole afternoon off to spend more time with Darly. haaaay!
So till the next lunch date na lang uli.
